The Creekview Grizzlies battled Friday night but came up short against the Lassiter Trojans, falling 20–13 in a hard-fought Class AAAAAA Region 6 matchup in Marietta.

Despite a determined effort and a second-half push, Creekview could not overcome Lassiter’s early advantage. The defeat dropped the Grizzlies to 6–3 on the season, while the Trojans improved to 7–2.

With one regular-season game remaining, Creekview now turns its attention to a highly anticipated Cherokee County showdown against the Sequoyah Chiefs, who enter next week’s contest with an impressive 8–1 record.

Lassiter Takes Early Control

The Trojans established momentum in the opening quarter, scoring 10 unanswered points to take a 10–0 lead.

Creekview responded in the second quarter, putting seven points on the scoreboard. However, Lassiter matched that touchdown with seven points of its own, maintaining its 10-point advantage.

At halftime, Lassiter held a 17–7 lead.

The Grizzlies entered the second half needing to generate additional offense while finding a way to slow down the Trojans.

Creekview Battles Back in Third Quarter

Creekview came out of halftime determined to close the gap.

The Grizzlies scored six points in the third quarter while limiting Lassiter to just three.

The effort narrowed the deficit to seven points, with Lassiter leading 20–13 entering the final quarter.

With the game still within reach, Creekview had an opportunity to complete a comeback.

However, neither team managed to score in the fourth quarter, allowing Lassiter to preserve its seven-point victory.

🏈 Second Quarter: Lassiter 7, Creekview 7

🏈 Fourth Quarter: Both teams scoreless

The biggest difference came in the opening quarter, when Lassiter built a 10-point lead.

Creekview outscored the Trojans 13–10 over the remaining three quarters but could not completely erase the early deficit.

Creekview Moves to 6–3

Despite Friday night’s loss, Creekview has put together a competitive 2026 football season.

With six victories through nine games, the Grizzlies have demonstrated their ability to compete against regional opponents.

The loss to Lassiter presents an opportunity for Creekview to regroup before facing one of its toughest challenges of the season.

Next Up: Creekview vs. Sequoyah

The Grizzlies will face the Sequoyah Chiefs on Friday, November 6, in a Class AAAAAA Region 6 matchup featuring two Cherokee County programs.

Sequoyah enters the game with an 8–1 record after delivering a dominant 66–7 victory over Woodstock on October 30.

The Chiefs scored 45 points in the first half against the Wolverines and added another 21 in the third quarter.

Creekview will need a strong defensive performance to contain a Sequoyah offense coming off one of its most productive games of the season.

For Sequoyah, the matchup offers an opportunity to improve to 9–1 and finish the regular season with another victory.

For Creekview, defeating the Chiefs would provide a significant boost heading into the postseason.

A Cherokee County Rivalry Worth Watching

The upcoming meeting between Creekview and Sequoyah brings together two programs with strong community support.

Both schools represent the Canton area, making the matchup particularly meaningful for local students, families, alumni, and football supporters.
